Founded by photographer Shea O'Brien, The Headshot Studios grew out of one simple insight: traditional event photography often feels fragmented, slow, and frustrating for both planners and attendees. We set out to fix that. Today, we bring a full studio experience into your venue; professional lighting, expression coaching, tethered capture, and streamlined delivery, all optimized for 250–1,000+ attendees.
Our team specializes in corporate event headshots and comprehensive event photography that captures speakers, awards, and candid moments. We use modern delivery tools, including facial recognition where appropriate, so attendees receive the photos they’re spotted in quickly and securely, often within minutes, via branded galleries sent by text or email. After years of photographing professionals and large-scale events, our founder Shea O'Brien saw the same pattern repeat across conferences of every size and type: long lines, clunky sign-up sheets, galleries that took weeks to arrive, and headshots that felt disconnected from the brand on stage. Attendees left frustrated. Planners felt the headshot experience was more trouble than it was worth. And the images themselves — when they finally arrived — rarely matched the quality of everything else the organization had invested in.
Shea set out to fix it. The question wasn't just "how do we take better headshots" — it was "how do we design a headshot experience that works at scale, integrates seamlessly with an event, and delivers something people are actually proud to use?" The answer became The Headshot Studios: a high-volume, high-touch headshot operation built from the ground up for the conference environment.

Meet Shea Swinford: Founder and Lead Photographer
With 26 years of experience as a professional photographer and thousands of attendees photographed or headshots delivered across career, Shea Swinford is a nationally recognized event headshot photographer and personal brand photography expert based in the Kansas City metro area. She founded The Headshot Studios after identifying a persistent gap in the conference photography market: no one was treating on-site headshots as a premium, scalable, full-service experience.
Shea brings to every event the same skills that built her reputation in personal brand photography: an exceptional ability to read people and put subjects at ease, deep expertise in studio and natural lighting, and a trained eye for the details — styling, posture, expression — that separate a good headshot from one that actually gets used. Her background in brand strategy means she thinks about every image in terms of how it will perform in the context of a professional's career and an organization's brand.
Shea has been a mentor of the Headshot Crew since 2018 and is the founder of the 40 Women Over 40 community campaign and brings that same commitment to making people feel genuinely seen to every event she leads.
